UEA - EMS internal auditor training

"The UEA operates an Eco-Campus (ISO 14001) environmental management system. They needed five in-house auditors, and Burton Environmental was selected to deliver the EMS internal auditor training. To prepare we first interviewed the Environmental Manager, and learnt how to best adapt our course and maximise its relevance. We used the campus's own environmental aspects to illustrate the presentations, as well as plenty of photographs from the site. On day 1 we covered the basics, including a virtual audit of a fictional site, then in day 2 we undertook a live audit of the campus. This really helped the staff understand how the principles and techniques relate to their own roles as auditors. It's a tried and tested approach we extend to all our customers."
